Hello again, I think this may be part of the problem. I sshed into computer 2 loging in as root, I ftped to computer 1 loging in as webuser, who is the owner of the directories I wanted to transfer. On computer 2 the owner of the directory that I want to transfer into is webuser, not root. Should I have logged in to computer 2 as webuser? Charlie
