I have had expierence with the following:

Compaq : Most things not supported real well, though with newer kernels
not bad. Somewhat expensive, but nice box.

Toshiba : Everything supported out of box. Decent laptop but a little
big.

Dell : Everything supported out of box. Decent laptop, not commercial
grade IMHO, I have had it serviced 5 times at least, but I am VERY hard on
laptops.

IBM : Only expierence was older thinkpads. Best laptops wrt durability,
but very pricey. At time they had spotty linux support but Im sure that
its gotten much better.

TuxTops: Great, durable machine, very expensive, not in business anylonger
but someone took over their product line.
