I use a domain name, though it is owned by a friend of mine so I am not sure
which DNS service he is using - one of the free ones. I can find out if you are
interested. Right now, cox assigns you a static IP (they tell you it is dynamic
but the DHCP server will always assign the same IP address based on the
hostname) so you don't need to worry about having your DNS updated all the time
to reflect changes in your IP address. In fact, I have my ip address configured
statically, as I was too lazy to use dhcpcd/pump. I'll wait for cox to complain
I guess.
