Adding a new partition

Hi all,

I am building a new box and I want to add an some additional partition to
make a software raid.  I have space on both drives to make a sizable
partition.  My question is: I need to run fdisk and create the partions
that will go into the md0 device,  do I make regular partitions
(vs. extended?) and then run raid tools to bind the two togeather?

I just haven't used fdisk in forever and all the docs are not real clear
about this.  BTW this is a RH 5.2 box with the 2.0.39 kernel with raid
knowledge compiled in and raidtools 0.90.  I know its an old kernel but it
does raid and it takes alot less time to compile it.
