Linux Installation question

Since you are running a laptop I'd say just go ahead and just have 2
partitions, one for swap and all the rest in /
You will then be able to use your limited space much more efficiently. It
doesn't sound like the machine will be one a network that will require that
you do things with your partitions for security reasons and such.
