I really meant to say fdisk here... (though you may well need
a newer lilo as well).
Also, you're nowhere near the limit with an 8GB partition; if you
want a *really* big partition, get several 70GB drives and use
RAID-0 to combine them into one really big partition. RAID-0
should give you better performance too.
The maximum size of an ext2 partition is around 2TB.
