do you mean your terminal emulation or the actual ttyxxx that it creates. If you mean terminal type you can insert thr folloing command
into you .bash_profile in the user login dir
TERM=vt100 or wyse50/60 or ansi etc..
if you mean the latter than I would like to know as well.
