I might need one for my HP IIcx... it seems to me like the colors are
coming out muddier than they used to. But I can't even figure out how
to get in there to replace it.

BTW I've been wanting an ADF (document feeder) for years, if anybody
runs across a good deal on one. I got one at the thrift store but it's
not the right one; I think it's for the old ScanJet Plus. They made one
for the IIcx that rumor has it might be the same as for the 5200-whatever
model that is one of the current models. Anyway I don't know that SANE
supports ADFs either, so I might be asking for a lot of work. I don't
need another project. Really. I just want to be able to unbind a
manual, stick it in there and have some compact files like PDF's or
something come out the other end onto my web server. An automatic
paper assimilation system so I can lose the paper without losing the
information.

Yeah, definitely check it before you buy anything.  Check it anyway;
I know Musteks are supported but not sure about the parallel port models.
