What type of video card do you have?  Some newer models like those using
the ATI Rage 128 or Nvidia GeForce chipsets need Xfree 4.0 to work
reasonably well.

Installing 4.0 is non-trivial.  I believe it's in Mandrake 7.1 which
appears to be in the process of being released, so you may want to go
for that instead.  

Of course I don't mind getting paid, but for longer-term projects.  Also
I build custom Linux systems if anyone is interested.  :-)
