This might be the place to start:
http://www.linuxdoc.org/LDP/LDP-Author-Guide/index.html
I know it's specific to the LDP but it's a good foundation, and has some
links to other "Style Guides" and such.

Subject: project documentation HOWTO?
I could have sworn that somewhere in the HOWTO's there was a HOWTO on good
documentation for your project, or at least, what the typical standard is.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about and a reference to that page? I want
to use it to help build an internal documentation standard for our projects
here at work.
Thanks
