Best mouse for linux/W98 dual boot?

I have pretty much stuck with Logitech for quite a while now. They have a
number of good designs. (The newest one, I'm not so sure about.) And they
even have the "Wireless Desktop" for those who'd rather not deal with all
the cords. I've come very close to buying this wireless option a few times,
but I couldn't tell you how well it works with linux. My guess is that it's
transparent to the OS, although there are some funky buttons on there, that
may need special software to make use of.

Anyway, I digress. Logitech has always been good for me in windows and
linux. (and any other OS I've tried.)

My original Microsoft mouse finally bit it. I bought it for my 286 and used
it all these years.
Now I would like a three button mouse for my serial port. COSTCO has an
optical MS with that scrolling wheel for about $40. I don't know if the
scrolling wheel works in linux.
