All,
I hope someone can help me. I decided to re-configure X to run at a higher
sync frequency with my new Compaq V700 monitor. When I attempted to run
XF86Setup, I get a segmentation fault (core dump). Bad. So I run xf86config,
and when I get the choose video card section, it asks 'Do you want to look
at the card database?', when I answer 'y' or 'Y' I get a segmentation fault
(core dump). If I answer 'n' or 'N' I can complete setup but I don't get to
select the proper card.
The card database is located at /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/Cards+ as expected.
Does anyone have an idea what is corrupted that is causing these errors? How
do I find out?
FYI:
Hardware: AMD K6-2 450, 256MB RAM, Voodoo3 2000 (16Mb) video, Compaq V700
monitor.
Mandrake v7.1 with Xfree86 v3.3.6.
I have been able to get it working of a sort using the XVGA setting.
Thanks for any assistance.
