hooked up my laser printer (HP 4M) to Redhat 6.1 computer - lpd
set up in linux as HP 4

lpd is running...I can even print to it from my Windows NT computer thru the
samba share.

how do I print from linux console?

I tried cat filename > lp  (and lpr & lpq & lpd)
I tried cat filename > /dev/lp (and lpr & lpq & lpd)

I might as well have used /dev/null cuz it didn't happen. Not a flicker -
not a trace in /var/spool/lpd/

and yes...I deleted the files lp, lpr, lpq & lpd   ;-)
