Master boot record editing

Well, here's the weird thing-even with Suse set up(more or less) on that
partition my MBR never changed at all. When I formatted the COL
partition it left the MBR information unchanged, as did the Suse
install. Before I rebooted from Suse after the install I happened to
notice that there was no lilo.conf file in my /etc directory, which may
be a clue as to why it hasn't changed. Maybe I should try again?
