doesnt vnc come as a precompiled binary? just run it and if you cant run it
check your permissions.

ok, i used linux 3 years and since then i've forgotten just about
most of what i learned.
but anyway, i download vnc and it's a tgz file. now i'm beating my
head against the wall to get it installed. a little help here please.
and the vnc program i'm referring to is from att labs cambridge if
you needed that info.
