Dev Meeting?

I would be interested in learning some basics about the LINUX kernel--such 
as the command to compile it, how device drivers are compiled, etc.  Would 
like to learn about setting up inittab and spawning daemon processes at boot 
up.  Anyone knowledgeable in this area willing to teach?  Hope this isn't 
boring for most.
