I browsed their website and information is a little sparse so far. The list
of packages looks like a stripped-down Linux distribution - few educational
packages are included so far.
But I think the important issues are the dedication to including educational
software packages and the committment expressed to the GPL. Indeed, I think
a standardized Linux distribution will greatly benefit both the school
administrations who make the decisions about which sortware to run in their
schools and admin buildings and the support organizations who try to convince
those administrators about the value, security, and supportability of this
kind of software, compared to the usual and customary proprietary systems.
