I have the mandrake 8.2 distribution, I've been trying to use the gcc =
compiler, but I keep getting a message similar to this when I try to =
compile something.

gcc: installation problem. cannot exec `cpp0': No such file or directory

In redhat 7.2 during the installation where you get to pick what apps =
you want, in the development portion, I've seen where we have an option =
to install cpp. I haven't found nothing like that for mandrake.=20

Any info on how I can get this working would be great. I haven't been =
able to recompile the kernel or do anything like that with this.

Any information as to where linux is located, its Readme etc would be =
great too. So far I've used this at the command line to find info:=20

man gcc
man -k gcc

I'm new to linux, and ain't much afraid to experiment with the kernel or =
what not. I'm barely learning the basics of programming so linux and =
trying to program with gcc is a whole new territory to me.
