moin, moin,
No cost introduction to GNU/Linux classes start this Wednesday. PLUG is
presenting classes the first Wednesday of the month at Sequoia Charter
School in Mesa, starting in September.
The classes begin at 19:00 with instruction lasting about an hour. In the
first class every student will be given a copy of Knoppix, a GNU/Linux
distribution that runs off a CD and doesn't write to the hard drive, which
will also be used for the instruction.
The classes are meant for people new to GNU/Linux or new to computers in
general. The classes will cover the basics of desktop navigation, and how to
use Free Software office productivity, email, and web brower applications.
One of the huge advantages of GNU/Linux is total lack of support for
viruses. Tools like Open Office, Evolution and Mozilla don't support time
and money wasting viruses.
The Sequoia Charter School is located just north of US 60 on the west side
of the street. There is NOT a freeway ramp at Horne, so take the Mesa or
Stapley exit north to Southern. Turn south onto Horne and look for us on the
right.

The classes are part of PLUG's growing community support program. Other
activities include the InstallFests and working with AZOTO to provide Free
Software solutions for NPOs and educational institutions.
For information on the classes write classes@PLUG.phoenix.az.us. For
information about PLUG and AZOTO see their web sites,
