11 out of 10 times when my Linux installation gets weird is is my fault, because I putter and tinker with things to learn and just see if this one thing that I don't like can be made gone.

Currently I have a dual boot of windows 10, and it will live there just long enough for me to finish fooling about with a couple of games I am playing, because I want to, get this tinker and putter and do things that are unsupported. given they are windows native games running modifications on them is not always functional under wine. not that it breaks really its that certain elements just don't work.

Everything else I do is 100% Linux. and right now that is Garuda Linux, (Arch variant) for the gaming related extras that they have baked in for my needs.

all of it just works, wonderfully, until I mess with it. but the best part is. you have access to logs, errors, and some remarkable documentation across the internet and it never stays broken long.

KDE Neon is Ubuntu with them making it 100% KDE compliant :-)
There is also Kubuntu wich is Ubuntu dialing a KDE experience. but are options and are quite stable.

It's been years since I used it, but I found KDE Neon to be less buggy than Kubuntu. KDE is a nice desktop, I would recommend.

I have used Mint and liked it.  I now use Kubuntu.  Someone said that the goal of mint was that it just runs... Well I've been on Kubuntu for maybe several years and it just runs.

My Linux desktop experience is similar.

I started my Linux desktop journey circa 1997, dual booting between Windows and Linux.  Believe it or not, it was more stable than Windows 98 but there were not many productivity apps.
I experimented with a stock X desktop, calculating the Hsync/Vsync modelines till you got it right for *your* CRT monitor!

And then came the KDE desktop 0.9x, with its suite of applications.  I have been using the KDE desktop for quite a while.
And then it slowly became bloatware and I switched to Linux Mint (Mate) about 7 years ago.

The Linux Mint team has done a wonderful job putting together a desktop distro that simply works with LTS and rolling upgrades.
Linux Mint may be the way to go if you are looking for ease of installation and maintenance.

About 6 months ago, I tried Kubuntu 22.04 in a VM and was quite surprised to see that it was nimble like when it first came out.
I have switched to Kubuntu 24.04 a couple of weeks ago.
