I know many of you have expressed your love of Thinkpads over the years, particularly back in the days when IBM still made them with quality. I came across this where there's a crowdfunding project to make complete drop-in replacement mobo's for the most loved models with fully modern processors, i/o ports, drives, and everything. Even recommendations for replacing the displays with modern 4k equivalents, though some require cnc milling to open up the space.
Pretty nifty stuff actually, got me thinking some about this even...
