That seems weird, can you try it from the gui?  You should a networkmanager icon in your tray on most Desktop Environments.

Also, maybe try walking through these steps in this link, verify the radios are on, and a few different ways to connect.

If you look at logs with journalctl -f while doing so, any logs there point to problems?

Otherwise, maybe just make sure the wlan nic is working doing some basic kismet scans that you're seeing yourself and your neighbors ssid's pop up.  As long as you're seeing traffic, it *should* work.
