The visual of that is pretty amusing, and yet possible if not awkward.

I mostly include it for creating the means of being able to push a stronger signal to the endpoint. But it can also lead to an interesting understanding of what you can do with a wifi signal.

My solution was to purchase the Ethernet adapter for my Chromecast and fire stick so they are both wired. This same idea can be combined with wifi extender or ethernet extender.

Something like this might be what he needs, and then connect it to the WAN port on his own router. or just another ethernet port and turn his router into a switch/dumb AP (no gateway functions) https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-CPE210-300Mbps-dual-polarized-directional/dp/B00N2RO63U/

Thanks but you can’t hook Pringle cans to things like Fire TV Sticks and Printers. :-)

Here’s the crux of the question:

If you have a WiFi range extender with an Ethernet port on it (that may or may not work as an Access Point), can you run an Ethernet cable from that range extender to the WAN port on a router and treat that the same as if it’s an internet connection on a cable modem?

So the extender talks to the distant router, then connects via Ethernet cable to the nearby router instead of a computer or printer.
