Sounds like a broken phone app update, or the data got corrupted somehow to it. I've never seen that happen otherwise.Might try some other apps that replace the dialer, I've seen some of the phone screening apps that do that. Otherwise, again I'd suggest a wipe and replace, something sounds fsck'd up/broken.Sadly, this isn't as easy as with a rooted phone using something like titanium backup, which alone is usually worth rooting a phone. I don't believe I have lost any contacts.
All the names and number that I remember are there.
The problem is that contact's names are not displayed in incoming calls, and
it's a pain to screen calls... :(
