What are the outputs of the command "mount"?
If this disk worked before, it almost certainly has filesystem problems. Check the output of "dmesg | grep err" and you'll probably see a series of errors related to the disk that's mounted on /media/bmike1 . If you umount the disk and fsck it, the problem may stop happening.
