I noticed your IP is 192.168.0.2.  Is that a static address?  It doesn't sound like a normal dhcp address.  192.168.0.1 is your actiontec, right?  If your main router is also 192.168.0.1, you have to change one of them, but I suspect your main router is 192.168.1.1 and you are not using dhcp on your clients.

So, try using dhcp now that you disabled it on the actiontec.  If that still doesn't work, try a static address in the same range as your main router (maybe try 192.168.1.20) and set the gateway to the main router(maybe 192.168.1.1?).  Try to ping 8.8.8.8 after all that.

well... what I meant is why are we pinging it. is it because it will definitely be up?

If I remember correctly it is going from one network to the 102.x.y.z and you need to do something. But I don't know what or if i'm even right!

I have an old actiontech modem/router. I want to run from my modem to the UPS to it and from there to the two computers (I just figured this out ) so the NIC cards of the two computers are protected. Anyways, the network icon indicates there is connection and the info window that tells you if you are connected or disconnected says that I'm connected but:

 $ ping google.com
 ping: unknown host google.com

Could someone tell me how to fix this?
