They are doing a number of things but they still are not the friend of linux they are advertising. But i think MSSQL on Linux is a good thing. i think more MS software available on Linux is a good thing. Just as long as they do not try to patent Linux software that is not theirs to patent.

Umm ... no. Correct me where wrong, but all they've done is *port* SQL Server: they haven't released any of its code, it's just another proprietary DB (like Oracle) that runs on Linux.
