Yeah, I have to admit that Hugin is the main reason that my computer has so much RAM.

Thanks, Brian. I bought the computer from a friend for $60 so I wasn't expecting much. Actually this thing has run fine until I started laying with Hugin!

I'm guessing you are nowhere near maxed out.  It says you have 2 empty DIMM slots, and the other 2 slots only have 2 gig DIMMs in them, so I'm guessing that you can probably put bare minimum of double the memory you have now and probably at least 4X times memory you have now if you outright replace the DIMMs with 4 gig sticks.

I got some jobs that are making me a little money (finally) so I can
make my computer better. I was stitching some photographs together and
before hugin started to do it's thing  it said I didn't have enough
memory to run four threads but enough to run only one. How can I tell if
my memory is maxed?
