I got a officejet 4652. http://www.hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/models/officejet/officejet_4650_series.html says it works with my OS (Mint) but it isn't. I contacted the mint forums about this.... Let's see what happens!

In my experience it is very likely that you WOULD be able to scan with an HP all-in-one. HP is very good about providing drivers for their printers.
