I have experience with 12.04 servers in production and I am testing a 14.04 build now. There are more prepackaged 12.04 scripts written for all provisioners than any other distribution or Ubuntu version. But your point is well taken.

Others may disagree but I am seriously considering the move to an Openstack cloud with our Web servers running 12.04 LTS for Drupal.

Just to be curious, why would you move to 12.04 LTS today instead of 14.04 LTS? It seems like if you were moving you'd want to move to the most current LTS (longer support window)
