So I stopped using an erased my virtual machines months ago. Just recently I added my LFS machine. DHCP didn't assign an IP address that had been assigned to the virtual machine but rather the next number in line assuming the VMs were still in use. Here is how it is: my brother is 192.168.0.2, x.x.x.3 was my XBMC machine before it died, x.x.x.4 is my laptop I created some virtual machine, then I made my printer wireless (x.x.x.10), I deleted the VMs, months elapsed, I created more VMs, I deleted the VMs, more months elapsed, I got the LFS machine and it became x.x.x.14, finally I had a hardware failure on the XBMC box, and the replacement was assigned x.x.x.15 . Why weren't the VMs IP addresses recycled in this time?
fyi- all of my hardware is recycled except the laptop, which I got for christmas, and the replacement XBMC server, which is on loan from my dad. I don't have any money to spend on brand new equipment.
