I think I just read that the issue is that I'm running the 64 bit version. There is no issue with the 32 bit. Is there a way to install the 32 bit version and run it on my 64 bit OS or else will I need to install the 32 bit os?

The newer versions of Chromium don't have the wrench. As for it working in Chromium it was before I tried the xfce WM. Now it doesn't. When I open hangouts in Chrome I get two errors:  The first is, 'Could not load Google Talk Plugin,' and the second reads, 'Could not load Google Talk Plugin Video Renderer.' When I attempt to open hangouts with Chromium no errors appear and the video chat loads and everything is good except chromium will not accept any keystrokes. I try to type into the address bar but get nothing. I try to type into a window (like a message in gmail) and nothing appears. I even reinstalled the OS  with the original WM and it still doesn't work. How can I install the previous versions of chromium?

I have an older version of Chromium - try wrench icon -> Tools -> Extensions
or in the browser input  chrome://extensions/

are you sure the Google Talk plugin works with Chromium? might be a
Chrome only thing - just guessing
