Yesterday I read about something called Realcrypt.  It does what Truecrypt does, but binaries seem to only be available for distros that use the RPM package format.  Does anyone know if it's a safe alternative to Truecrypt?  If so are there .deb binaries available or where can the source be found?

who's going to sue if they shut the project down?

Why accept bad licensing anyway?

        moin moin,

        looks like TrueCrypt has problems.

Haven't looked at Tahoe-LAFS in a while. Significant
        improvements since I
        last looked.

There's also encfs, LUKS ( cryptsetup ) and eCryptFS. Collect
        them all :).

Today I read at The Register that the truecrypt site
redirects to their sourceforge page, and that has a
statement saying development has been discontinued. I
            checked and saw for myself.

I'm wondering if this is for real or if the truecrypt
            people have been hacked.

If this is for real, are there any alternatives?
