Okay..... I go to insert->fields->other->variables->set variables. then I set format as text and enter the variable name then a value- press insert and it enters the field as it should. I can't figure out how to change the variable though. When I enter a new value nothing happens  and if I click insert it inserts the new value. How do I get it to change the value of the variable?

Is there a way to link your Libreoffice document fields to a Libreoffice spreadsheet?

Just a thought

I've been looking at this for a while now but can't figure it out. I have multiple places in a document that need to be input fields where if you change one they all change. at first I thought the right thing to investigate was 'variables' but have since changed my mind in favor of 'fields'.  Why do they make such (what I consider) a basic function so difficult to do? Could someone point me in the right direction?
