Are you saying a move to Linux is of no use? No firewalls to keep them out?

Well, the NSA has access to:
0) Data tracking that allows them to:
fingerprint your layer 7 applications
fingerprint your layer 1-3 applications
Large databases provide all manner of cross-checks on your "habits":
Encryption(s) are mostly broken, so they can access any data they collect.
Akamai caching provides a great deal of information that can also be cross-checked to provide more complete data from bank data and other high level authentication to ensure that you are who they think you are.
NSA has various taps in place around the world that show source and destination and/or cookies.
1) Encroachment to most individuals or small business via OSI layer:
Layer 1 up:
It's trivial to own/tap (without a Warrant) your DSL (cable) or ADSL (Century 21) -- then on to your router (DD-WRT, Netgear, Cisco, Asus) - quickly.
Layer 7 down:
It's trivial to send you a PDF or Javascript Browser Exploitation BEef hook and walk through your systems (similar to Logmein or Hamachi). There are agents that can be delivered via email (Kaseya or LivePerson) and J2EE exploits that can be launched easily = opening you wide.
Believe me, in this day and age, there is NO AWAY and no keeping THEM OUT.
2) Survellience technology continues from all your expenditures, all your travel (license plate readers), and your phone behaviors, and can include remote viewing (without camera technology you would recognize).
But sure. Go ahead and keep them out, I dare you!

My opinion.
We all know about opinions...

The NSA has backdoors into everything with a variety of technologies. Believe it, nothing is sacred, if they want to know all about you, there are a great many "doors".
