Brian,
Scribus does not import pdfs. You have to open a blank document, and then insert a graphics object. You import the pdf into the graphics object. Stretch the graphics object to fit the area of the page you want. Then, insert text objects into the graphics object and type away. Save the document; export to pdf, ignore errors, and enjoy!

I knew scribus would export PDFs, and is quite good at it, but I hadn't realized that it would also import them.
That being said, I just tried importing a number of PDFs and it did a terrible job. Basically the documents were unrecognizable.
Is this typical behavior for scribus, or am I doing something wrong?

I'd swear I asked this but it isn't in the archives. Hans said something
about acrostar but that was 7 years ago and I was wondering if anything
new (better)has come about that allows us to input text onto a pdf. (the
hans comment was in a thread with the words 'fillable' and 'pdf' in the
subject)
