Mike,

I suggest you get a copy of Professional Plone 4 Development  by Martin Aspeli (pakt) and join the plone users group. and follow that book. It takes you from setting up your development environment to creating add on products for Plone. It is very good, but you need a rudimentary knowledge of python.

Installing Plone is easy....running it is easy...simple changes are easy....developing new functionality takes some time to learn how to do it correctly. Feel free to contact me off list for help. However, there are many more knowledgeable plonistas on the Plone users' group email list.  ;)

I'm checking out plone and I'm trying to download it right now. I need to download some addiitonal stuff too. They want me to d/l imagemagick but it seems to be a windows thing. Is there a linux equivalent that I'm supposed to d/l?

I apologize for branching, however, am I reading that you find PHP developers more difficult to work with than python developers?

That would be an interesting observation.

The other aspect of things is there seems to be more python friendly
folks out there and not as many php friendly, but that is only from my
personal experience and may not be accurate outside of my own life.

A mouse trap, placed on top of your alarm clock, will prevent you from
rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button.
