Also if the all in one box fails, you are offline and cant' access anything else on your network.  If a firewall fails, it can be temporarily removed from the network until it can be fixed or replaced.  If your wireless access point fails, you can still use your laptop.  You'll just have to plug it into your wired network until the wireless kit is fixed.  If your modem dies in a puff of smoke, you can still sit on your front porch and use the laptop to get information from another computer in your house.

Honestly. Ian a big fan of separateing modem from firewall and wireless. At home I have my modem. Then I have a smoothwall firewall. And the I have a wireless access point on its own network with a couple links inside my wired network. Now that I have this working I have better latency than I was getting with the all in one solution and better control overall.

I'm moving and getting internet access through Century Link.

This Actiontec GT724WGR looks like a better modem than the Actiontec PK5000 that Century link was trying to lease or sell me for $100.

Is there another that people would recommend instead?
