It's a symptom of paying for those who don't, so called managed health care, and a litigious society.  Now if there was just an open source model to fix this problem....

Something is very wrong.  In 1979 I went to the ER and received 3 stitches.  Cost : $35.00.  At the time I was attending college and lived in a "guest house".  It was maybe 400sqft.  I paid about $35/mo in utilities.

A trip to the ER recently for very minor treatment was almost $4000.00 after the doctor sent his bill.  We were in and out in about an hour.

I was able to get the $3,054 ER charge down to $760.  Sure hope my utilities do not go up to $760.  Yikes!  The doctor billed us at $665.  I'm waiting for his adjustment.

I'm glad the ER is there however I need it to be much more reasonable (read as affordable).

I cannot afford to get sick!
