the color of the wires, don't matter, just make sure they match both ends.

I got some phone cable (green & red/yellow & black). Could I use it for ethernet cable (blue, green, orange, brown)? Which pins would I connect it to if so? I would think red would go to dark blue and and green to light/striped blue. then black would  go to dark green  and yellow to to light/striped green.
