ssmtp the (software) package doesn't appear to be all that it's cracked
up to be: http://www.davidgrant.ca/ssmtp_vs_postfix_no_contest

As for gmail's free ssmpt service, I haven't looked into it. I figure
there's gotta be some sort of limit, catch, or something I would find
objectionable. "There's no free lunch".
