Greetings All,
Paying bills today, which I normally do online, and have never run into
a problem with Firefox on Ubuntu 8.10. After logging off from APS, I got
a pop-up asking me to take a survey for APS. I clicked on it, and it was
a nightmare from my old windows days. It kept opening up blank browser
windows faster than I could click out of them! I do have the Firefox
pop-up blocker enabled, but the windows continued to open even after I
disconnected from the network.
Does anyone know if this is an issue with Firefox, or the APS website?
That is an issue with Firefox. It should limit how many
windows/popups/dialog boxes can be opened in order to prevent this type of
denial of service.
Firefox is better than it used to be, but there are still some issues.
In the preferences on the content tab there are options to configure java
and javascript. I allow changing images and turn off all other options.
I had forgotten that and yes, I do the same including opening new tabs rather than new windows. Thanks for the reminder
The link from Lisa links to an article on Controle de Scrtips, which gives
even more control.

I also have popups open new tabs rather than popup windows. I don't like
things that try to steal focus and demand my attention.
ciao,
