palm pre:
any ideas on if the palm pre will play well with linux like the treo 650
does?
It's an ARM OMAP processor but it will probably take a lot of work from the hackndev boys (I know a few of the Linux on Palm/Treo guys) and if they do make it, it will probably be a while and won't have as good support as the native core. :-(
Palm in all likelihood will not give developer access to the linux core (all applications will be done using HTML/CSS/JS ala early iPhone applications) at least for the time being, so even simple utilities and linux applications will be at home, on your desktop.
