are you using any OSS mapping components?  Just finished a very small job using Deegree.  Geotools looks promising.

  btw- to PLUG: I recently did a little GIS work for the State of Arizona and yes, your tax dollars are funding projects using Open Source.  And special thanks to Lisa Kachold for her quality Linux security support.
