after looking at the various LFS books' sumaries it would seem that I need to start with LFS. And I was wrong.... I do have linux.... I have knoppix! In a few weeks I will have a recent uubuntu. The challenge will be getting online to d/l the book. Well,  the broadband cared, so it would seem, runs with ppp so if I can't get wireless going hopefully I can get that workinng.
