That's what I like...unanimity. Thanks, I'll give it a shot. Can rsync 
restore to a different size drive? If the backups don't include empty 
space it should be possible....I think.

rsync basically copies the files themselves and preserves the permissions and timestamps, so they can be rsynced back to any size drive that can hold the sum of the files.
