Alan? Ahem! Why would we be discussing using CMS under Microsoft IIS on a LINUX list?
I would not run a php based CMS under IIS, considering the security ramifications! Microsoft has SharePoint for that!
Changing server hosting for a website under DNS is a simple matter of one CNAME/A record change.
While the website can even run in a fast server running VMWARE if the hit count is low, a complete test of the virtual Linux Apache web server running say Drupal, or new installation of Joomla would certainly be indicated. Network port forwarding and additional security might be indicated - check structure and authority at your school.
The design of the network should take into consideration both internal and external users, iptable allow only ports 443/80, and provide adequate response (not NAT'd,
snort'd and passed through to old a dial-up Cox home box, or port forwarded on 10/100 bandwidth, for example.

I volunteer as a webmaster for a high school marching band. We have been using Joomla! for several years now. I need to upgrade the site to the new Joomla! 1.5 or to something else in the next few weeks.
The issue I need to tackle is that our donor host supports us on an MS Windows/IIS server. We have recently experienced slow support response, etc. These two factors combined with some reports of
difficulty getting Joomla! 1.5 installed on IIS is triggering my consideration of a different CMS, one more "suited" to the host environment.
What experiences with CMS solutions on IIS have you all had? What ones install easily and work well with the host system?
(I know that changing the host provider is an option. I will explore that and other options too as needed. Let's keep this thread focused on the subject at hand, a FS/OSS CMS on IIS.)
