Yes it is crazy to run as root. However, when I log into my test machine
as root it is with the explicit intent of being crazy, and when I intend
to be crazy as a regular user I end up typing my password about once
every two minuets, which is very annoying.

The machine in question does not have any credentials outside of its'
self (unless that is what I am working on testing) and I have full
intent of wiping it out every six months or so and starting again. I
also monitor the box along with every device on my network for bandwidth
and protocol usage, and my monitoring is getting better every day (thank
mostly to all of you guys). Like I said before I understand the risk of
utterly destroying my test boxes installation and have learned much from
utterly destroying it several times :)
