Actually, now that I think back when I was a DSL subscriber, my ISP (ISWEST/QWEST) also offered dial-up access that you could use if needed.  The intent was for use when not at your base location, but I know I did use it a couple of times from home and used it a lot while traveling.

Obviously I have no idea whether they still have that, but it would serve the need if they do.
