Unfortunately I'm not a member of Sam's.

The more I get into this, The more questions I have.

I have 2 computers that run 24/7.  An old Toshiba Laptop, and old server that I hope to upgrade and add a 350watt PS.  And a server (desktop converted to server) I will be getting today.  I suspect is had a 350 watt PS also.

As I look at the UPS's I get the feeling I can run all three from there.

The printers and monitors do not need battery backup.

I figure the two linux boxes can be setup to power off upon power failure.

Questions :
1) are my assumptions right?
2) what is the measurement VA mean?
3) Can I use those cheep power strips with a UPS (as an extension) ?

Thanks a bunch,
Keith

any recommendations aon a manufacture or model?

We use APC UPS here at work.  They are pretty decent.  The cheapest place I've been able to get them is Sams Club.

We haven't run any of the software (to automatically shutdown) on Linux though. Anyone have experience doing this?
